What are all of the items in the homepage graphic?

You might recognize some of the things on our homepage graphic and header, but you might not know what they all are – and what they mean to us!

  1. Our ceremony is happening on January 20, 2021. In the United States, that’s the Inauguration Day for President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris. We decided it would be fun to use #OKeefeAdministration as our hashtag, and to adjust the Biden/Harris inauguration seal to be for Kara and Patrick.
  2. The Nightmare Before Christmas, a movie that we both love, and have seen in 4D at Disney’s El Capitan Theatre, just down the street from us in Hollywood.
  3. Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade from BBC comedy series Still Game, which we discovered thanks to Netflix.
  4. The cover for Puff Daddy’s 1999 album, Forever. Patrick is a big fan, and a shared appreciation for Bad Boy Records, the label founded by Puff Daddy, helped lead to us meeting.
  5. Hi-C Ecto Cooler, a fruit drink from the late ’80s and 90s released as a Ghostbusters tie-in. After the revival in 2016, Patrick bought it for Kara as an early gift and snuck it in to their first ever together movie theater screening of Ghostbusters, their favorite movie.
  6. New York Rangers, Kara’s favorite hockey team that is now Patrick’s favorite hockey team.
  7. Rampage, which Kara told Patrick was her favorite arcade game, which led to him buying it as a gift. It was the first entry in our growing home arcade!
  8. Dunkin’, Kara’s go-to coffee brand that Patrick has drank a lot more of since they met.
  9. Wawa, a chain of convenience stores with great coffee, subs, and food, that Patrick introduced Kara to. Not to be mistaken for 7-Eleven or Sheetz.
  10. New York Yankees, Kara and Patrick’s favorite baseball team since birth.
  11. Ready Player One, the first book Patrick read at Kara’s suggestion. And loved! As we were working on this website, we were slowly working our way through Ready Player Two in our first ever joint reading of a book.
  12. Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, one of our favorite rides at the park and the one we most often ride repeatedly!
  13. Us on Silly Symphony Swings, a ride in the Paradise Gardens Park section of the Disney California Adventure theme park.
  14. Us at the wedding of Jenn Lebowitz and Paras Patel, which was officiated by Kara.
  15. Haunted Mansion, a ride at Disneyland. One of our favorites! In the photo, the attraction is set up for Haunted Mansion Holliday. A week after getting engaged, we counted down to the 2020 New Year at the gates of the Haunted Mansion.
  1. Stranger Things, the first series we quickly watched together from start to finish! For Halloween in 2017, we went as Dustin as Ghostbuster Ray Stantz and Dead Barb. Shortly after we picked our costumes, Kara learned that she would be joining Netflix!
  2. Joust, an arcade game with fun artwork that Kara discovered she liked after it was included with the Rampage machine.
  3. The Hollywood sign! Home for us and the first time we had ever lived in the same city.
  4. Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, an arcade game that we both love. Patrick gave it to Kara for Christmas in 2020!
  5. Marvel, who has created a lot of comics, books, TV shows, and movies that we’ve enjoyed, including our 2020 rewatch of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  6. Us just after we got engaged in front of the Ghostbusters fire house in Lower Manhattan. Read the story.
  7. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!, a ride at Disney California Adventure. Another one of our favorites!
  8. Last but not least: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, varying forms of which we both love. Patrick still has his ninja turtles figures, and we have the arcade machine, too!
